Company summary

Brands that matter and clients that get it.

Praytell is a communications agency valuing creativity, curiosity and the sense that there has never, ever, been a better time to be in the communications game than right now.

We blend earned, owned and paid into all we do, an integrated approach sorely lacking in today’s communications environment. Though we’re a new agency, we bring a ton of experience, taking what worked and losing what didn’t, in the process earning the trust of global, powerhouse brands including MAC Cosmetics, Anheuser-Busch, Twitter, SoundCloud, Estee Lauder, Hyatt, and others.

Want to get a sense of who we are and how we approach life inside (and outside) the office? Stalk us on our social channels and you’ll get to know us (maybe a little too well...). Still curious after that? Make sure to check out what an awesome year 2015 was here.

Who we are looking for

Preferred skills

Skills will vary from role to role, but core values remain the same. Does the below describe you?

Creativity. We are a creative agency at our core. Every action we do - large or small - needs to be infused with creative thinking that is rooted in business objectives and goals. We’re different, and that comes through in our offerings, be they traditionally associated with creative fields and those that aren’t.

Executional Excellence. We are masters of our craft. We hit deadlines, we nail KPIs, we take joy in going above and beyond what is expected.

Strategic Thinking.  We question assumptions, we probe, we go beyond the x’s and o’s with thinking that relates directly to the business at hand. We are truly integrated and strive to be more so every day. We’re curious.

Proactivity. We are always one step ahead of our clients, thinking for them and offering them true value with every interaction.

Citizenship. Everyone plays a part in our success, and we listen, help and support each other to get the job done. We're empowered to reach beyond our roles to imagine, explore, and identify better ways to get things done. We make the office a better place. We do the right thing.

What we offer

What is special about working for us?

Here's a snapshot of three initiatives that'll give you a good sense of what we're all about, what drives us, and why Praytell is different than your average agency.

Camp Praytell

In August 2015, we took the entire agency to upstate NY for our first annual staff retreat like no other. Enter Camp Praytell, where we played games, hiked, had campfires, did slip and slide, cooked epic meals and hosted a historic (to some) talent show. More importantly, we reflected on how far we’ve come and how far we plan to go - brainstorming ways to become a better agency.

Passion Project

Our Passion Project is an initiative that affords the entire agency the chance to participate in strategy and brainstorms to help non-profits. Whether it's media relations, website development, social media, advertising, or all of the above, we're in a unique place to provide multifaceted communications for these nonprofits so they can deliver a greater positive impact within the communities they serve.

Radiator Literary Journal

At the core of our work is a love of words, books and art. Enter Radiator, a physical and tangible anthology of art and writing from Brooklyn and New York City. The first edition featured a group of talented writers, including our inaugural Flash Fiction contest, and benefited Housing Works and its mission to end the dual crisis of homelessness and AIDS. Catch our launch party here.

How would we describe the company culture?

Check out our social channels, and you’ll see we do things a little differently. We build dynamic, thoughtful, robust content strategies for our clients. For us? Not so much. Instead we focus on ensuring our social content is an accurate reflection of life here with the Praytell family. Caution. It gets weird.

Application advice

Advice to applicants

For those of you wondering how to get noticed in an inbox filled with hundreds of qualified candidates, whether you’re applying to work with us at Praytell or anywhere else for that matter, here’s a collection of our top five best practices for breaking through the noise:

  1. Forget E-Mail. Send a Tweet. Or a GIF. Break out your social media chops and show us first hand how proactive and thoughtful you are in your best 140 character note. Show us who you really are and send something we just can’t ignore. We love GIFs.3cd7f703b3775fd8fa5d.jpg

  1. Get Creative With Your E-Mail Subject Line. In an ocean full of [Insert Job Position Name Here] subject lines preceded by unknown email senders a plenty, it’s always refreshing to see someone who gets it and switches up their subject with something unexpected. There’s nothing better than LOL’ing at a hilarious subject that absolutely makes you want to click on it first before anything else - special characters CAN help, as can blatant self-promotion and power-phrases calling out your special talents and abilities.

  1. Always Send a Personalized Cover Letter. You wouldn’t believe how many people waste time by clicking apply on LinkedIn or Indeed without appending their resume and cover letter. We specify inclusion of these two elements as requirements for even being considered for a role with us - and our bet is it’s probably the same story for other agencies. Use your cover letter as an opportunity to shine and let us get to know your personality. The letter shouldn’t just reiterate what we can already read clearly on your resume.

  1. And Tailored Resume. Oh, and if you’re applying for a strategy role, you should try to tailor your past work experiences listed on your resume to showcase your strategy-related experiences.

  1. Hack Our Strategy, No Seriously. See something we’ve produced around the social sphere or interwebs - maybe a press release or even an employee profile on our website? How would you have done it differently? Send us an example to prove it. Create a mock profile of yourself as if you were an employee. Craft a tweet as though you were tweeting from our very own Praytell handle. Show us what you’ve got.

Company culture

I've never had bosses who were more supportive. Ever. I don't even think my parents love me as much as my Praytell managers do. Ha! They go out of their way to give you a shout out, phone call, e-mail, text, tweet...telling you what an amazing job you've done. I have a happy file I've kept with kind words from my bosses here.

Teamwork is a huge priority at Praytell. There isn't a sense of competition, just a collective "we got this" attitude that is unlike anything I've seen. Colleagues constantly jump in to help others, even for clients or projects they aren't responsible for.

Support from Management

Not tons of HR, but very open and helpful senior leadership

Company culture

Have never worked somewhere that was so caring, smart, and challenging all at the same time. Our culture is what makes PT great (aside from the brilliant minds). I've pinched myself many times after considering the quality of human beings I get to interact with on a daily basis. The family is real.

Support from Management

Not sure if I can say enough about the leadership at PT. They're involved, engaged, and they *care*. I haven't worked somewhere where the leadership actually cared about my life to this degree (few at the top even knew my name at previous gigs). It inspires me to do my best work and to give it my all (truly). It's overwhelming to think of all the love that went into building PT, and I only hope to carry that torch everywhere I go.
