Supervisors rarely compliment staff. Staff usually cringe when they see management in their area. There is no sense of fairness or trust
Support from Management
Go to leadership with legitimate concerns. If they feel it will reflect poorly on them (or their friends) you will be punished for it. Their system of feedback is set up so they can legitimize treating individuals poorly.
Most employees are team players in this environment. But the management makes them feel like they are always looking over their shoulder and they tend not to really trust each other.
