I like about the employer

When I worked there, pay and benefits were excellent (though I've heard they've dialed the benefits back a bit). Challenging work and opportunities to make a difference.

I dislike about the employer

Too much hierarchy. Discrimination (to a degree) against older employees. Diversity it good but it's become skewed too far towards minority groups.

Company culture

Huge company. So communication by key phrases repeated in meetings large & small. Doing the right thing was always the main understanding.

Suggestions for improvement

  • Just continue listening to the repeated issues by employees and keep trying to resolve. Listen to your admins. Hire contractors who have proven their worth. Need more employees and less contractors.

I like about the employer

Competitive wages ($152K
annually is good for secretary in
CIncy area)
Diversity thrives and appreciated
Employees generally treated with
respect by mgmt
Employees given plenty of
opportunities for advancement.
Plenty of benefits, vacation, sick
pay, strong HR, profit sharing

I dislike about the employer

Company so large that there's too much "red tape" ... (I.e., simple things like ordering a new phone may be handled different ways at diff locations and processes change so always left unsure of how to process the simplest requests.

Finance issues are difficult to drill down and find culprit.

Often it's basically 'too many cooks spoil the broth' and/or 'the left-hand dont know what right-hand doing!'

Company culture

The company culture used to be very fair to the individual but now it seems to be all about the bottom line

Support from Management

This is where P&G is losing people; too many people not wanting to make waves

Attitude towards older colleagues

Over 50? forget it! Not unless you are a VP. They seem to push people out.

Job security

Good job security if your boss likes you; if you have a personality clash "the stripe always wins" is the motto at P&G

Suggestions for improvement

  • I dont think the culture of this company will ever change. I saw a person with 25 years with the company get pushed right out the door. It's a good place to work at the bottom of the ladder but they seem to like to push longer-term employees out.

I like about the employer

P&G enabled me to learn as much as I could; which was good because I needed it later!

I dislike about the employer

There is no way to protect yourself; if you have a manager that doesn't like you for some reason (let's say you know the work better than they do), they can pretty much decide to get rid of you even if you have been a top performer in past years. HR does nothing to help.

Support from Management

Very good management systems developed and supported by the companies leadership team

Level of Autonomy

This is basically the strongest benefit of a Job at P&G

Workplace Safety

Safety is a very strong system within P&G, not only in theory, but also in praxis (we walk what we talk)

Suggestions for improvement

  • Find a smart way to deal with this growth topic above; even more "out of the box thinking", more consumer relevant innovation of our products

I like about the employer

Hierarchy is not really visible in day-to-day work. A lot of freedom to decide HOW you want to do your work, even though we have many standards and best practices where it is RECOMMENDED to apply (but it is not forced)

I dislike about the employer

P&G seems meanwhile to be too big to have further growth opportunities. Continued growth of the company is a very important factor of the wellbeing of the employees (vs. stagnating or even declining business).

Suggestions for improvement

  • Managers need to manage people more instead of managing work. By managing the work, employees are ignored and work is the number 1 priority by far. In other companies I have worked for, people counted much more than they are at Procter and Gamble.

I like about the employer

Challenging work assignments. Good pay and benefits. Really understand that work will be the number one focus, family will not if you want to succeed. Otherwise work elsewhere.

I dislike about the employer

Still carries the "Proctiod" culture. Reacts slowly to quickly changing environments and pays for it by continual job eliminations, benefit reductions/eliminations, and appears not to be focused on what made the company so successful and has tried different approaches that reflect that the captain is not at the helm, but the ocean is controlling the company.

Workplace Safety

attempts to, not totally

Suggestions for improvement

  • Bring in experienced management from other industries to move towards 21st century competitiveness.

I like about the employer

Not much compared to many others I've experienced

I dislike about the employer

Overly paranoid concerning one-way operational mandates and culture. Director of Plant made promises and commitments not backed up by their superiors - must be indoctrinated and long time employee to be successful - not receptive to new ideas - too many management levels, local facility controlled by corporate rules - ineffective and inefficient operations.

Support from Management

More with less, company motto

Teamwork

All depends on your team, ive been on 5 star teams, and 2 star teams

I like about the employer

The hourly rate for my area can not be beaten, generous PTO alotment

I dislike about the employer

Rapid rotation swing shift will honestly shorten your life, advancement opportunity has been less and less over the last 5 years
