Providence Health experience report

  • Employee

There has definitely been a negative cultural shift within the last couple of years.

2.22

Company Culture

Catty and Untrustworthy

Teamwork

Our direct manager encourages backbiting and tattling

Freedom to work independently

Micromanagement experts

Internal Communication

Secrets abound

Gender Equality

Still pretty misogynistic unless you're a nurse

Attitude towards older colleagues

If you're gray it's past your day

Career Development

Only up the nursing ladder

Office / Work Environment

You can get an ergonomic assessment with the big cloud hung over your head that any changes are ultimately going to come out of the departments budget (i.e. you are a burden)

Work-Life Balance

When push comes to shove how dare we put ourselves or families first

Handicapped Accessibility

Only physical disabilities

Challenging Work

Not enough people for the workload

Inclusive / Diverse

Keep quite and don't make a fuss or you're just the angry black woman

Suggestions for improvement

  • Please read previous response.Stop pushing for a while.Teammates are not to be trusted let alone relied upon.Look to areas of high staff changes and address lower levels of management that are the direct cause (not the one on maternity leave while all the staff changes were made)

What I like about the company

It always gives me great pleasure to be a part of a network of caring individuals who find ways to help nurture patients' body, mind, and spirit regardless of a financial difficulty. To be able to know I can call on others and continue to work to get the patient the needed care utilizing our various resources rather than having to simply tell the patient I'm sorry there is nothing I can do. This only one of the reasons I was drawn to Providence.

What I dislike about the company

So much time, effort, energy, and money has been spent to make the patients' experiences better. Unfortunately, now the patient's experience is worse than ever. To make up for the chaos and the budget, management is pushing staff and tightening the belts and screws harder and tighter. All the staff are stressed, no one can get their work done, the individuals who are supposed to be around for support are constantly away in meetings or reporting back on how what we do isn't right or isn't enough. Staff turnover is at an all time high and satisfaction at an all time low. No one can be trusted. This is evident daily is our interactions in the atmosphere, in our tones, in our phone responses and in our interactions with our patients. Even providers are jumping ship. Enough is enough.
