Suggestions for improvement

  • I would make the wages competitive and I would give the employee back there sick leave and ptk also I would try to make the environment safer for all the healthcare workers

What I like about the company

I learned alot from providence. The people that work there are so of the nicest people I have ever worked with

What I dislike about the company

The pay could be a lot better and more competitive with other hospital. The benefits could be way better right now they are getting rid of sick leave and taking some of the PTO away from employees

The following perks were offered to me

On site cafeteria is offered Health and wellness programs is offered

Company Culture

Catty and Untrustworthy

Teamwork

Our direct manager encourages backbiting and tattling

Freedom to work independently

Micromanagement experts

Internal Communication

Secrets abound

Gender Equality

Still pretty misogynistic unless you're a nurse

Attitude towards older colleagues

If you're gray it's past your day

Career Development

Only up the nursing ladder

Office / Work Environment

You can get an ergonomic assessment with the big cloud hung over your head that any changes are ultimately going to come out of the departments budget (i.e. you are a burden)

Work-Life Balance

When push comes to shove how dare we put ourselves or families first

Handicapped Accessibility

Only physical disabilities

Challenging Work

Not enough people for the workload

Inclusive / Diverse

Keep quite and don't make a fuss or you're just the angry black woman

Suggestions for improvement

  • Fire the supervisors, leads and managers with the high turnover. Take Note...If One Manager is Out on Maternity Leave or Working in a Different Location for a Majority of the Turmoil...They are NOT to BLAME.Bring in more staff in troubled departments instead of swooping in to "whoop them into shape"

What I like about the company

Despite the cultural shift, I do still believe we are the best healthcare system in town and am proud to be a part of that. I am not the only employee who is disappointed with the changes and know that most all of the other caregivers are extremely upset by the cutbacks and restrictions and overall poor choices being made by those who seem to only be interested in a bank account rather than our patients. This group mentality of equal disgust at least has renewed my faith in my fellow caregivers as ones that do indeed care and ones who will do every last thing in their power to ensure our patients are cared for. And that is why regardless of our managements behaviors and attitudes as well as that of individuals on my current team, I can be proud to say I work for Providence while I seek an internal transfer.

What I dislike about the company

Please see prior responsesOur patients are not coming first....the bottom line of the financial ledger is coming first.Tons of money is put into remodeling and updating, etc., etc. yet when all is said and done there is not enough money leftover to adequately staff the departments. Instead the patients are left to deal with outrageous wait times, burned out staff that cannot possibly meet their needs let alone answer the phone in a timely manner, staff members that are stretched so thin they are physically and mentally exhausted, even with the staff pushes through and tries to take care of as many patients as possible under these conditions with a big fake smile on their face the patients cannot help but notice the overarching cloud of doom and stress filling the area. Maybe someone ought to have put a little more thought into taking care of the staff and thus the multitude of patients? Now the patients are leaving in droves as are the PROVIDERS. A new fancy remodel did not facilitate better patient care...they are feeling more ignored than ever. The patients are feeling like an inconvenience, they are lost, they are missing the familiarity of having at least one staff member

The following perks were offered to me

On site cafeteria is offered

Teamwork

No. Lots of toxicity even within teams sometimes.

Internal Communication

Communicates poorly ever since merging with St Joseph. There were layoffs and lots of fear in employees without communicating with staff what was going on or what the goals were.

Career Development

No. It became clear there was no option for me to ever advance within my department. They would rather hire from outside than advance within

Environmental Friendliness

There could be more recycling available

Work-Life Balance

Some departments have flexibility and allow employees to Change to Part time to care for family but other departments do not allow full time staff to go to part time, no consistency sometimes even within the same departments

Company Image

I used to be more proud before phs merged with st Joseph’s. Now it is all about money and bottom dollar vs patient care

Suggestions for improvement

  • Better communication between departments all around and from administration to staff

What I like about the company

Competitive pay, good benefits

What I dislike about the company

Too much red tape, too many loopholes to jump through for minor requests

Company Culture

Excessive corporate compensation for a Catholic "non-profit." Facilities and staff were critically underfunded and undersupported at all times while CEO level/administration received record bonuses. Administration does not remotely care about patient safety or staff safety. Astoundingly toxic environment for care staff.

Workplace Safety

Not even close. NEVER enough staff to safely provide care.

Challenging Work

We never worked with full staff, properly working equipement/enough supplies or clerical support.

Suggestions for improvement

  • Improved nurse-patient staffing ratios. Safe care cannot be provided when nurses are stretched too thin. It's just not safe.

What I like about the company

Enjoyed my co-workers. Felt good to work to a common goal of exceptional patient care.

What I dislike about the company

Excessive corporate compensation when nurse, nurse-tech, and more providers are so desperately needed. We keep being expected to do more with less and less. We need more staff.

Work-Life Balance

Expect you to work well over time and they never give you anything in return.

Challenging Work

It's health care. You are overworked and underpaid

Suggestions for improvement

  • Getting rid of all the high ups and making it about the patients care instead of how much money they can make.

What I like about the company

They gave me good experience in my career.

What I dislike about the company

EVERYTHING! They do not actually care for their patients only the dollar amount. They don't care about their employee's at all. Better off going to a place where your hard work is appriceated.
