Support from management

Management was actually very supportive, they're willing to work with you as much as they can.

Freedom to work independently

As a customer field rep, CFR, you are given a list of addresses to collect from and sent out. No real direct supervision in the field, but the truck is tracked and leads may shadow your route.

Career Development

The apprenticeship program gives you plenty of opportunities. You just have to stick with it.

Overall compensation for your work

Pay was great with a solid raise after your first year. Benefits are good, and the retirement plan is pretty nice.

Work-Life Balance

Pretty much normal office hours, chance for OT during storms.

Company Image

Not really, being a customer of the company myself I don't like them. The company doesn't have a great reputation.

Job Security

People always forget to pay their bills.

Suggestions for improvement

  • I entered the program trying to get into high voltage construction through an apprenticeship program. They started me out basically doing door to door collections on bills past due. I was told that I would be in that position for about seven years waiting for an opening to advance. So I left.

Company Culture

Leadership breeds a culture where accountability is diluted by soliciting too many people on decisions. Nobody has authority..keeping nobody to blame for failure.

Support from management

Management support is all talk. There is none.

Freedom to work independently

Freedom is granted to work independently when you are working on something nobody else cares about. If others care, you cannot work independently and will, in fact, get bogged down and hindered getting anything productive done.

Career Development

Despite management initiatives and promises of working to promote within, it never came to. In certain positions, one is just going to stagnate...regardless of performance and individual growth.

The company attempts to sell itself as a great place to work to compensate for poor compensation.

Work-Life Balance

In my position, I enjoyed a very flexible work situation. As long as work was being done timely, meetings were being actively attended to, there was a very good work-life balance.

Job Security

If a person can survive about three years there - adapting to the culture - they could easily have a job there for life.

Handicapped Accessibility

In the building I worked in, there was no handicap-availability for someone to work on the second floor.

Definitely can be at times. At other times, routine. Typical organization. Most of the challenges, though, come from ineptitude in execution....which is a byproduct of the culture.

Company Culture

I have not found fairness and trust to be part of the company culture.

Support from management

We go through the exercise with our supervises that we will be involved but year after year we rate poorly in JD Powers great places to work survey and the culture remains the same.

They hold meetings to discuss jd power results

In fact just the opposite the company has made reorganization changes that have eliminated most of the company knowledge by either having employees reapply for their current positions and then hiring outside the company or just laying off employees.

Certain groups promote and provide training however it is not consistent.

PSE dies provide good pay and great benefits.

Company Image

If basing strictly on employees response to annual surveys, we don't talk fondly about our employer. The image received by our customers is about the same, they don't trust, like or have a good experience working with PSE.
