- R. H. Sheppard Co., Inc.28.Sep 2017
The morale of the workforce is at an all time low. Management does not care about anything except making themselves look good, and getting a prime spot in the WABCO acquisition.
Support from management
You only get support if they can claim your idea as theirs and they like it. Bad news is never acceptable.
Despite the negativity and poor leadership, everyone comes together to ensure our customers are treated respectfully, and orders filled on-time.
Freedom to work independently
With managers that do not care, do all you want. But you will never get recognized or rewarded for it.
There is NO communication to any of the workforce except to the "drinking buddy" who is visited several times a day. The remainder of the "team" is only contacted when the manager (who has no direct experience or leadership skills) has something negative to say.
I have no facts, but I believe the female work force is under appreciated and extremely underpaid.
Attitude towards older colleagues
It depends on the manager.
It depends on your department. Most have no encouragement or direction from management to advance or improve ourselves. They discourage anyone from doing a better job than they themselves are getting credit for.
Overall compensation for your work
Sheppard has never been known for paying high wages. We all live paycheck to paycheck.
Office / Work Environment
It depends on your department.
Appears to be very good.
It depends on what department you are in, and what our production levels are. High production-more work, low production-more life (which at times includes furlows).
Excellent, thanks to a great product and customer support.
Unknown since purchased by WABCO. You can't believe what management tells you because they are only worried about saving themselves, and have had a year ahead of the workforce to negotiate their positions.
It could be much better.
Depends on your department. They stress safety, but not sure if they back it up when problems are identified. In my job I am expected to get it done. If I get hurt, the attitude is "why didn't you do it differently" and it's your fault you got hurt.
Every day is a challenge...
Inclusive / Diverse
You either fit in or you don't, no matter where you come from. If you don't, you won't get anywhere.
Suggestions for improvement
- Great people quit because of bad managers and leadership. It's time for WABCO to clean house in that area.
What I like about the company
The promising future with WABCO. I love their Code of Conduct. If they enforce it, it will reform Sheppard into a world-class company and THAT IS WHAT WE NEED.
What I dislike about the company
The lack of good leadership and managers. The lack of support from the company for anyone having problems in their personal life, which affects their work (no sympathy, empathy, encouragement, or human services offered or available).
