Dead end minimum wage job for dead end minimum wage people.
They don't care that the economy is bad and you will take whatever job you can. If there is anything about you that says "I'm more than a minimum wage loser" they don't want you.
Support from management
Someone built a messed up machine. The boss decided one way to improve productivity was to glower at everybody like it is our fault that the machine is not working. As for low wages "If you don't like it, leave."
They do an excellent job letting you know you have no value in their eyes, that selling cheap batteries is a no-brainer, and they will make a profit even if the inner circle is incompetent.
Attitude towards older colleagues
They want older people out the door.
It is a dead end job.
Overall compensation for your work
I exaggerated slightly when I said minimum wage, but people have been working there 5 years and only make $14/hr.
They seem to be aware that respectable people don't belong there.
Over all, pretty safe, however, if you are a forklift driver and you actually try to go outside and inspect the trailer, you are on the fast track for termination. On one occasion, a pallet fell 30 feet. I was told not to bother reporting the incident. Another occasion a forklift driver crashed into a pole, because he was too busy harassing me. The hierarchy was watching and laughed it off.
Sometimes the work can be challenging, but do not be too good at it or you will be castigated by lazy people.
Suggestions for improvement
- The boss would be the first person who has to go. Then all the people in the office who have no idea what is going on out on the floor, yet want to tell us how to do things. Basically, anyone who has been promoted, and their legion of sycophants has to go.

The bullying attitude the inner circle has towards everyone else.
