Family Owned Business That Has Grown Over the Years
There is some work place tension between some of the more senior employees, but nothing that makes it an unbearable environment. It comes with the territory of a family business that has had the same employees for years. The owner always has his employees backs, and takes care of everyone much better than any corporate environment.
Support from management
The hierarchy of bosses can become somewhat confusing at times due to conflicting orders, but each boss is caring and competent with years of industry experience. If a question arises, all bosses are easily approachable and willing to explain a situation more in depth when necessary.
Some employees are more helpful than others, yet everyone is generally easy to work with and will assist each other when needed.
Freedom to work independently
If a fellow employee calls in sick, then your work day will be more difficult due to having to pick up the slack. Otherwise, the daily workload is always distributed fairly and the bosses are very hands off if you complete your work on a consistent basis
Being a family owned business with all management and salaried employees being in their respective positions for years, there isn't much upward mobility unless an expansion takes place. However, all bosses will gladly explain to you the ins and outs of the their fields and help you learn skills that are applicable in other environments.
Overall compensation for your work
It's an hourly job for most positions, and they don't offer a benefits plan. But the pay is always fair for the amount of work, and you get paid weekly. Your pay is ALWAYS on time. No excuses here.
Office / Work Environment
Excluding an old, beat down maintenance truck with no AC or heat (its no longer there), all necessary tools are readily available to complete any task. The office provides beverages, and occasionally meals. The office is up to date and easily accessible.
Excellent balance. Most days are your normal 9-5 so to speak. If you have any appointments, all you have to do is notify someone a week or so in advance. They are extremely receptive to any family issues or commitments, and allow vacations if given proper notice. It is also an extremely military friendly place to work, and does not hold military commitments against employees. If there is an emergency, you may be asked to come in during your off time, though you will be compensated fairly.
It's a family owned and operated business that has slowly grown into one of the largest property management companies in Central Illinois. The owner is still very much involved, and the two senior bosses are people you can count on.
As long as you put fourth a consistent effort and are an ethical employee, your job will be safe. You definitely don't have to worry about anyone undermining you
Some jobs are more difficult than others, but after a more strenuous task, you actually feel like you've done something.

Ideas and opinions are always welcomed by management. If you have a suggestion to improve something, they will definitely consider it.
Suggestions for improvement
- Performance related bonuses for number of jobs completed on a weekly basis in the busier seasons.
What I like about the company
Working for a small business that has an owner who cares about his employees and community while having the ability to work at your own pace.
What I dislike about the company
Conflicting orders on occasion.
