Staff have told me that since I was let go, upper management is never on the floor helping staff but are disciplined for not getting everything done in 8 hours. I always told the staff how appreciated they were and once again, I'm being told by former co-workers that they don't hear that from management anymore.
Support from management
Upper management is very poor with communicating with each other, so staff are constantly being told 2 different things & then disciplined for not doing what hey are told.
The nurses and CNA's are great team workers. Therapy department works well with each other in that department alone but they often forget they also need to work as a team with the floor nursing staff.
Freedom to work independently
CNA's & Nurses are over worked. Upper management does not listen to staff suggestions on improvements or issues with work flow, but once again they are disciplined when the slightest thing fails.

Attitude towards older colleagues
Nursing staff support each other and therapy staff support each other but the 2 departments do not support each other and often have issues.
A new program was started to help CNA's through a nursing program.
Overall compensation for your work
CNA wage (all over not just Rennes) are very low for all of the work they are expected to do. They put up with a lot of angry residents that abuse them either verbally or physically and do not get any compensation for it. Managers work more hours than what they are paid for and even though a day off is offered, it is very rarely able to be taken.

There is a demand for nurses & CNA's everywhere so of course they are constantly being asked to stay over or pick up shifts. The facility does not mandate, but if nobody picks up, they work challenged. Management is salary and are always working way over the hours they are getting paid for. Nurses stay to get their charting completed as well as CNA's. Therapy is the only department that work their 8 hours & leave.
Staff are angry about working challenged all the time because all the staff that normally pick up are getting burnt out so they just don't do it anymore. Many staff have left since I was let go and it was because they were unhappy there.
No risk for losing a job due to financial reasons. I thought my job was stable until I was blindsided and fired.
They supply training in orientation and at least once a year at a monthly inservice.
I always felt that I was behind. I was never praised for what I actually accomplished so no, I didn't have a feeling of accomplishment or pride. I was always scolded for not doing some other project while I was still trying to complete another one. I was always being told what I was doing wrong, not that I "did a good job".

Suggestions for improvement
- Upper management (Administrator & DON) need to communicate together and tell employees the same thing, not 2 different things. They need to listen to nurses & CNA's and at least try the solutions that are suggested when they present a problem. CNA's need to be paid more and resident acuity needs to be taken into consideration when staffing the shift, not just what the budget shows is allowed for staffing. Upper management needs to make a positive appearance on the floor talking to staff and residents more often. Not only coming on the floor to scold staff.

I was able to be insured at 36 hours a week instead of 40
What I dislike about the company
Upper management did not listen to issues in the floor and try to fix it. It was always about resident census and money. They never took resident acuity of care into consideration.
