Company Culture

Upper management handled things very well involving employee appreciation and praise.

Support from management

Felt comfortable with any situation good or bad, being described to upper management. Felt included in decisions beneficial to customer and employee satisfaction.

Teamwork

Very welcoming team atmosphere. Felt as if my fellow employees were also close friends.

Freedom to work independently

Seemed as if the workload was a bit more intense for employees on second shift, but other than that not too bad.

Internal Communication

Situations always enlightened among shift change to the best of their ability.

Office / Work Environment

Fairly new environment for my department. Small organization issues occasionally but steps were taken promptly to resolve issues.

Environmental Friendliness

Very well rounded when it comes to environmental awareness because of the dangers involved with the industry.

Work-Life Balance

I personally needed more hours to help support my family which upper management took that into consideration every chance possible.

Challenging Work

Yes felt very accomplished and prideful with my finished product.

Inclusive / Diverse

For the most part yes. Great company to work for, young or experienced, entry level or professional.

Company Culture

For black men and women of all races, the culture is not so great. Women have to get permission to go into restrooms and locker rooms, while African American men are not in any pictures or of any rankings of power. There are also no black people inside of the offices. They have no time or days to celebrate the work of their employees other than giving them a plaque.

Support from management

There wasn't much direction or a clear protocol on learning the information. You are put in the line of fire and expected to know everything after a few days.

Teamwork

Most of the work is done alone. Getting help is usually not an option until you are far behind.

Internal Communication

Communication here was not good. I complained about that a lot. They never asked questions as much. They assumed everything. In times of discipline, you would be scolded, and yelled at without given proper instruction of how to fix the problems.

Gender Equality

There is only equality of you are a white male in this company. If you are not, this will not be a great fit.

Attitude towards older colleagues

It's great for the guys that have been there for a long time.

Career Development

The company isn't really big enough to move on. You will not be able to progress very much if at all.

Overall compensation for your work

I never had an issue with my money until I left the company. Benefits are expensive but they are good. Vacation after 6 months as well. The pay should be higher, and every job gets the same base pay. Learning a new trade isn't a benefit for anyone but the company, and they openly tell you they are against unions.

Office / Work Environment

Working in steel you endure the elements a lot. That is not the least of concerns. There are racks you are supposed to get items from that's unsafe. There are also piles of steel laying on the floor spaces you are supposed to walk through. The work spaces are not safe at all.

Environmental Friendliness

The way they treat and talk to black people would make me believe they are not socially aware. That is from my experiences, and I am sure there will be experiences had by others which could account the same as I have.

Work-Life Balance

I had 3 Weekends off in a time span of 7 months. It was very hard to attend any of the sports my children were in and I would get points for missing even on their birthdays.

Handicapped Accessibility

None

Workplace Safety

Safety is terrible! They have meetings but only after things go wrong. Climbing in the racks is the only way to get some things out, and walking over steel in the walkway is guaranteed to happen.

Inclusive / Diverse

There is not much diversity at all. Only 6 of the employees inside were not white males. 3 were black, 1 Native American, and two white women.

Suggestions for improvement

  • • diversity training • communication learning • bring a union in or put a board together to review situations so that one person does not have final say • pay people for what they know • get a system in place to sign up for changes in times worked • fire production manager before he gets the company sued

What I like about the company

The benefits are nice.

What I dislike about the company

The production manager is the judge and jury. There is no voice for the employed people. They don't value safety as much as they say they do. They could use some communication and diversity training. There is no way to progress unless you brown nose and are liked. The pay is the same regardless of the amount of knowledge you have attained.
