Wants to be corporate but doesn't know how.
Support from management
No support from upper management. No business plan, sales plan, or ideas to make the organization better for all of it's employees.
Fellow managers provided nice teamwork but were saddled with other managers that shouldn't have been there because their skills weren't adequate.
Freedom to work independently
Can do you anything you want on your own - up to a point. The family always come first.
Don't have regular meetings and the meetings they do have go off subject every time.
Toward women they're outstanding, toward minorities not as much.
Attitude towards older colleagues
Age is not really a factor. They are fine with older workers.
No criteria for advancement in place. Promotions and employee reviews not given.
Overall compensation for your work
Salary below industry average and definitely not enough for position. Benefits below average.
Office / Work Environment
Many times employees are asked to do things that aren't safe.
They do a good job of understanding that you have a family and allow you to attend their events, etc.
Most employees do not like working there. They feel disrespected by management and that their opinions don't matter.
Job is fairly secure but lack of consistent sales always has lay-offs on the horizon.
No ramps. No elevators.
There aren't many accidents but not because safety procedures are followed. Employees are asked to do things that aren't safe or healthy.
Challenging if you know how to challenge yourself because you won't get direction from upper management.
Inclusive / Diverse
Only really for the family.
Suggestions for improvement
- Ownership/management needs a more clear direction and then to implement the plan. They should make the employees a larger part of the company.
What I like about the company
The ownership is nice and they say the right things. They really do care about their employees as people. They understand the work/life balance for employees.
What I dislike about the company
There is no vision. They don't involve their employees in any way in meetings, decisions, direction of the company. Employees are forced to perform unsafe actions such as working with parts that are too heavy, hazardous materials without proper safety equipment, etc.
