Support from management
Our leaders are micromanagers that do not give employees a chance to make decisions, make improvements, and grow in the company. Mangers are very autocratic and dictatorial , not giving employees any chance to contribute to the work place. In addition, managers are incapable of leading, making good decisions, or managing poor performance. I believe that this is a result of poor training systems. For example, our Sous Chef was promoted from line cook to his current position with no management training. As a result he lacks the basic management skills. It is hard for me to understand how someone like this, who even lacks basic math skills, could have been promoted to this position.
Company provides no training on safety. There is a inadequate new employee orientation program, however safety is not discussed.
Suggestions for improvement
- Eliminate the "good old boy" system that permeates the company. Increase the diversity within the company. I am not aware of any minorities in leadership positions, for example: general managers, front of house managers, Chefs, or Sous chefs.
What I like about the company
Have insurance for the part time job.
What I dislike about the company
Management, promotability, training program, discriminatory practices, lack of safety, and gossip.
