Company Culture

SAFE has progressively lost what they used to have as far as rewarding their employees, not that each individual is entitled to a reward, its conservative atmosphere seems to take away from its incentives and culture. Being that it is such a conservative company, trust isn't a word to best describe its practices towards their employees. In fact management seems to close its trust from anyone who is not part of their upper management team.

Support from management

Unfortunately safe tends to forget that its employees are people. Sales goals climb consecutively each year for front office staff to a point where it is unreachable and let their long time employees go. Decisions regarding the company, department or branch are never include employees.

Teamwork

Typically different departments within the company do not seem to get along to well, each seems to form their own clique. Management in several departments play favoritism, its obvious who is the favorite when employees feel entitled.

Freedom to work independently

Don't expect to go home after work and not have management ask you questions or hassle you when you are not on the clock, especially for back office employees.

Internal Communication

Yes, SAFE absolutely holds its quarterly meetings to inform its employees of its success, and profits, which of only accessible to back office employees. Meetings in branch are to only inform teams that their goals are being raised or they need to work on more sales. Decisions within the company are kept under wraps and mixed updates are given to employees which cause a chaos of confusion.

Gender Equality

As far as a equality, SAFE is a very conservative company, you wont find many individuals who are not white or not straight. In a few cases I personally have experienced instances where management talked about my lifestyle to other staff

Attitude towards older colleagues

Older employees are not really hired for front office positions unless they are experienced branch managers, more than half the time they are either behinds the scenes, or not considered. Long time employees are in abundance back office because they know that the position wont change much. Each month employees who reach milestones (in 5 year increments) receive a small bonus and a token of appreciation like a pen, or pin.

Career Development

Career progression is great with SAFE each front office position holds a career path,but it doesn't necessarily mean that if you follow your rank you are able to move on. Back office employees are not as fortunate since no one really knows what each department takes care of and each position is different even if you have the same title as another person, its hard to put that on paper. It is really at the discretion of the branch/department manager if they feel an employee can move on to better opportunities or if goals are met or not.

Overall compensation for your work

Most employees will agree the amount of work that is given foes not equal the pay. Health benefits were really good at one point but as the company expanded the benefits started to dwindle. SAFE is really good about getting your paycheck to you on time so that is not an issue, and they do give you minor discounts on products they offer.

Office / Work Environment

With a new building that they are in lighting shouldn't be a problem and everything is brand new, but don't expect to much privacy since their desks are very open.

Environmental Friendliness

SAFE has absolutely tried to take on a new green foot, with scanning documents and using a cloud system to keep their documents reachable to certain departments.

Work-Life Balance

I had an instance where it was life threatening for my partner, management advised me not to leave because they were so short handed. They felt it necessary to discipline me even though I have never taken sick days or showed up late.

Company Image

SAFE is going through MAJOR changes, so much that they cant keep up with themselves. Notably their logos and signs. They just purchased a new branch in the bay area with new features, but other branches still hot their old logos which pose a confusion to their members. A lot of their changes have been released without a final plan.

Job Security

As long as you are friends with the management you are A-OK. Otherwise you are replaceable.

Workplace Safety

For the most part SAFE is safe but leaving one employee in a branch themselves is a regular thing.

Challenging Work

No, I have never felt any joy or accomplishment for any position I was in.

Inclusive / Diverse

I wouldn't say that there is much diversity with the company, the good ol boy attitude seems to be they way it likes to keep it going especially for upper management. Fortunately there is a good variety of women as management but they never seem to make it higher then department or branch management.
