The company culture is terrible.
Support from management
Leadership does not offer support, communicate clear or realistic goals, and the little involvement they have with their associates is quite negative rather than positive. Even helpful feedback is given in a negative manner. They ask your opiniom for decisions, but then brush it under the rug like your opinion doesnt matter.
Your fellow technicians are your best friends and family. You ever need anything, its your peers that have your back!
Freedom to work independently
The idea is to work independently, but they dont allow that to occur
The communication is strongly lacking with this company in a lot of ways. Positive, helpful, supportive feedback does not occur. Often times, you wont know about something until its escalated to a point of no return, especially when it comes to customers and write ups. They often get to a "final" warning before you even know there is something wrong.
Absolutely not. Women "have the same career opportunities" but are often ran out and not given the opportunity to work for the company long term and are not hired often.
Attitude towards older colleagues
They are, but are often let go. They haven't even kept the senior technicians they have accrued over the years (people who have worked for the company for 30+ years)
Dont expect thorough training, or advancement opportunity
Overall compensation for your work
Office / Work Environment
I did not work in the office often, but for where I did work, our working conditions were less than ideal due to being outside most of the time. Rain or shine, especially in the snow, we were put in some unsafe positions numerous times, or we would be stuck for several hours in the inclement weather.
They demonstrate concern, but dont inforce it very well
They say they do, but expect to work more than 40 hours on a regular. Its not from peer pressure, and its not pressure to work these hours at all, so much as they tell you its the nature of the job and needs to be done. They do not take families into consideration, and if you have any sort of complication with family (child, elder, or self, being sick, ect) they will tell you that you have too much going on in your life. Having said that, they are incredible about deaths in the family and offer you the time off you need, in that regard, they are amazing.
No. They will fire anyone for anything as time has told. There is no loyalty to the employees
Im sure it is OSHA compliant, but they do not train to prevent accidents. Their lack of training led to several accidents and injuries. Damaged cars, injured associates.
As a technician, the work can be challenging on some vehicles, and easier on others, yes I am beyond proud of the work I produce
Inclusive / Diverse
Suggestions for improvement
- Take time to train your associates, take time to invest in them the right way, stop focusing on the negative and worry about making it more positive. Positivity doesnt always come in the form of attitude, but also from actions and reactions.
What I like about the company
I liked the work itself, installing glass is actually fun if you like working on cars and want to learn something new.
What I dislike about the company
Their biggest claim is to train you, no experience needed, and that they are people first, and unfortunately that is simply not the case. They do not invest in the time to train their associates correctly and then get frustrated when the work is not done properly or quickly enough. As far as people first, dont ever expect that from this company. They work you as much as they can and they expect you to do it with a smile on your face, a pep in your step, and not a single complaint. Dont make appointments during work days, they dont like being put on time constraints, even if its 7 oclock at night, they may need you, and dont like being told no.
