Suggestions for improvement
- Fair paid time off for all departments (our 13 full-time valets only get minimum wage while away, and I believe others may be the same as well. Dealers, with hundreds in their department, make the same when they're off as they would if they worked that day.) HR/upper management backing off and focusing on making the big decisions for the company, allowing the place to be run by those of us that are out on the floor and outside. Improving the quality of the food, big time. Not good when it's not a holiday, and people frequently get sick from poorly prepared food after eating there; free food for employees is a GREAT idea, but needs to be better implemented.
What I like about the company
Benefits. Most of the co-workers in my department (valet.) Holiday meals are almost always excellent.
What I dislike about the company
Upper management and HR. Upper management, mainly, getting involved in the day-to-day operation of the casino rather than letting the supervisors/employees do their jobs. HR, in particular, making a huge deal of employees so much as looking at their phones for a moment. We're people with lives outside of work. It's reasonable to expect people to not be buried in their phones all the time/when a customer needs attention, but we've had employees written up simply for checking their phone for a few seconds (mind you, they've explicitly said that they only care about hourly employees, not supervisors/salaried folks.)
Lastly, my department is only paid $5.50/hr and make the rest from tips....it gets ridiculous when a casino that made $539 million last year tries to prevent us from getting overtime so they don't have to pay us a few more dollars per hour, or wants us to leave early whenever possible.
