The overall dynamic was of mistrust. Everything was ultimately controlled by the Chinese ownership, who were greatly mistrusted throughout the U.S. group.
Support from management
Best communication was through informal means. The revolving door of employee turnover, especially in the Human Resources function did not help the cause. For a limited organization, they tried hard to have meaningful daily meetings weekly global video meetings.
The group actually performed very well as a team. The organization is small and could make certain things happen quickly. The domestic sales team worked well together to grow business in spite of numerous organizational challenges
Freedom to work independently
Average autonomy, but work load was hard because of limited resources and unrealistic coverage expectations.
Regular meetings were held to discuss all pertinent metrics.
Suggestions for improvement
- Clearly understand their position in the marketplace and work with their strengths instead of trying to be everything to everybody through a flawed brokering marketing mechanism
What I like about the company
Nice people made some other misgivings bearable
What I dislike about the company
Ownership is really disconnected from the reality of the market especially the venture capital principal
