The pay is good, considering the cost of living in Alaska. If you obtain a job on the range here, you will have a job forever. The reason for this is the systems are former Soviet Union radars. Not many people know much about these systems. The teamwork is great, and they're very understanding if your kid breaks his braces and needs to get them fixed on your work time. Cons include harsh environments (which come with living in Alaska), communication between management and the techs sometimes suffers, and you'll hit the ceiling of promotion quickly in this company. The health benefits are not very good.
What I like about the company
Relocation assistance, individual work on an assigned system, some outside work in beautiful landscape, critical thinking problems are as commonplace as general troubleshooting.
