- Scott Lee Heating and Cooling24.Nov 2015
Very much like a high school atmosphere and mentality.
Support from management
Not much leadership support
Never saw much teamwork there, even when working with the HVAC technicians in the field.
Freedom to work independently
I was often volunteering for the weekend work offered, while Scott Lee had some slackers working there half my age that wouldn't pick up the weekend work.
Yet I got cut from my job after 85 days working there.
Was never informed that my job was going to be cut there after 85 days working there, and I clearly out performed many of the slackers that had worked there longer than me.
It is a union shop.
No comment on this as I was often at job sites or driving the box van.
Attitude towards older colleagues
I was twice the age of the other drivers that I worked with, and I'm a retired military veteran that got cut from a union job for no clear reason .
I was only used until the summer season slowed down, then I was cut from my job there.
Never saw any of this at Scott Lee Heating as it is a sheet metal union shop.
Union shop that plays favorites.
Overall compensation for your work
After working there 85 days, then being cut from my job there for no reason, I never had a chance to get any benefits.
Office / Work Environment
Drove the oldest truck there as low man on the pole.
I had to clean and organize the truck in the cab and cargo bay just to do my job.
Then Scott Lee cut me from my job.
Often volunteered to work on weekends, just to get cut from my job for no reason after working there for 85 days.
It is a union shop, that most likely has long term union drones speaking favorably about it.
I was never warned that I would lose my job after working there for 85 days.
I volunteered to work the Saturday before I got cut from my job.
Yes, at the office it is handicap accessible.
Common sense training when removing/ installing HVAC units and driving a box van.
I was proud of my work there as I was learning the HVAC trade during the summer season.
Inclusive / Diverse
It is a union shop, most likely didn't promote diversity, had people set in there ways about issues.
Suggestions for improvement
- Lose the Sheet metal workers union, and lose the high school mentality job climate in the parts room / dispatch office.
What I like about the company
Learning the HVAC trade, seeing customer satisfaction.
What I dislike about the company
Cutting me from the job I was actually learning HVAC from, just to see them hire another driver once I found another job. Union shop, obviously I got cut from my job at 85 days so I couldn't get union benefits.
