The warehouse is a pleasant and inclusive environment with a tendency towards the kind of language you'd hear in a busy kitchen setting. Sales staff and management have a Frat-like hierarchy: if you're not "one of them" you're subject to public and private bullying. No respect for human dignity or progressive thought in regards to gender and racial equality.
Support from management
Employees are sporadically involved in decision-making and innovation meetings, however their ideas are summarily ignored thereafter. Job priorities are VERY poorly communicated, and change multiple times a week. No true sense of direction from management. Willing to promote from within- so long as that promotion isn't attached to increase in compensation. Product base is vast and very varied, almost as if management can't decide which kinds of products they'd actually like to distribute.
Warehouse staff works VERY well together, very little strife between co-workers.
Freedom to work independently
Employees can go weeks at a time with no direction, only to be approached by multiple managers multiple times a day with differing agendas for several days in a row.
Overall compensation for your work
Decent starting pay, but not willing to give regular performance reviews or cost of livings increases.
Office / Work Environment
Never exposed to any physically unsafe working conditions.
Environmental protection is HEAVILY regulated in the tech industry- in order to operate at all they have to comply. The bare minimum is done to meet these requirements.
Often responded to sales calls while at home (hourly pay structure) uncompensated.
They try very hard to present an image of a high-end tech distributor, but the warehouse is unorganized and there was never a "building" inventory- when all products in the building are physically counted to verify the electronic inventory data. Good warehousing dictates this sort of thing biannually or at the very least once yearly. Never happened once while I was there.
If you're looking to take on the responsibilities of 3 or 4 people and receive heavy criticism for not completing the work of 3 or 4 people every day, this is the job for you.
Inclusive / Diverse
Female employees yes- 2 out of about 20 employees. As of 2014, only white employees, though two African-American men were hired for a short period of time during my tenure.
