Support from management
Teamwork by front line employees is the only thing that keeps the company afloat
Freedom to work independently
As unqualified individuals are given supervisory positions, autonomy is a must.
#1 focus of HR is to push company narrative, whatever that may be at any particular time.
No. They have many more opportunities than men
Attitude towards older colleagues
Yes. Some so old they cannot function in the fast paced casino environment. Also many individuals in security are extremely out of shape and incapable of their job. Basically the company just wants to fill positions for the sake of having "bodies" instead of nobody.
Mixed from department to department. Example, when I started, 6 of 9 department leaders had held their positions for more than 10 years and a few over 20. Most of these leaders are ineffective and there is no for advancement as they "came up together along with executives". This is known as "cronyism"
Overall compensation for your work
As a highly specialized technician I did quite well, but this is very rare in this company. There are very few of these positions here.
Office / Work Environment
Individuals must breathe in secondhand cigarette smoke as a requirement for employment.
Only Food & Beverage department recycles. All departments have recycling bins, but all the trash goes into the same dumpster and there is no HazMat program whatsoever.
This company does not care about the employees on a personal level.
To outsiders the company has a great image thanks to brilliant marketing and public relations. The majority of employees know the truth about the company which is a large employer with a monopoly on their business. As they have no competition, they purposely suppress wages.
Everyone here is easily replaceable and when there is a lack of quality workers, vast amounts of money is spent on contract help to keep things running. Basically the company has more than enough money to hire and keep superior help, they just refuse to do so.
For the most part
No, no, and no. There is not even a "safety department" individuals with safety concerns are ignored. It is an extremely unsafe place to work. Especially in the kitchens and back of house passageways. Also the parking garages are dangerous especially in the twilight hours due to intoxicated drivers.
Mine is which is not common here. There are very few challenging positions.
Inclusive / Diverse
Yes, as much as race is concerned, no as much as ideas and opinions.
Suggestions for improvement
- The owners of the company would be well served by hiring an outside firm to evaluate every single individual managerial level and above. This particular company is so large it is impossible to police it from the inside
What I like about the company
There is nothing that I like about this employer.
What I dislike about the company
The employer spends a great deal of time trying to convince it's employees that he cares about them as individuals when it certainly does not. The company has been replete with cronyism for years. This is something that is beginning to change. But change is slow and may not actually get to the root of the problem.
