Support from management
If you call being asked to lie and deceive customers support - that’s it. I could go on and on about it.....I was there for almost 6 years.
It’s cutthroat every day - every one is out for themselves and it’s commission only so people - mostly managers are very deceitful with customers and it’s well known and there way of “selling” things - unethical is an understatement!!
Freedom to work independently
This is a joke - constantly micro managed and asked daily about every single lead or family you’re working with and in a lot of cases after discussion with your sales manager, they’ll call your people as well. Total assault and anything goes for the sale.
Attitude towards older colleagues
Again, zero respect for seniority and well tenured staff. I actually heard a sales manager tell the most senior person “that their time served meant nothing and that every day was a new day and why they had accomplished before today meant smithing and is in the past.” I saw 3 senior level people “pushed” out due to age.
Office / Work Environment
Miserable conditions and no continuity - very cheap towards anything!!
No recycling at my location - grounds crew were cognizant of trash and environment issues
This is a joke - work every weekend while the managers work 3 or 4 days a week. Not all of them but a good majority because they live out of there market and travel. No leave at all in the month of December and if you don’t use your very limited vacation, you lose it. No days carryover.
Everyone not SCI, hates SCI. I mean every funeral home and director to the landscapers working for them.
Threatened weekly if the numbers were low - made a hostile environment almost seem normal.
Horrific - again my location only didn’t have a handicapn ramp to the office - I’ve seen people in wheel chairs sit on our porch because they couldn’t get in our building.
Unreasonable expectations and demands makes for a very challenging job.
Inclusive / Diverse
Very poor - especially in management. I personally heard and saw so many inappropriate conversations and racial profiling of interviewees and lack of general respect for people. This from market directors to admins.
Suggestions for improvement
- Clean house from the top down - there are so many lifers that are just out in positions that are a true detriment and threat to SCI on a daily basis. Training - diversity and sexual harassment training first and foremost. Give up on sales force it’s nit appropriate for the funeral home and cemetery business as A CRM. If so, why aren’t commisions and everything run from it instead of HMIS? Because they know 3/4 of the information in SF is bogus due to the mandotory input of leads daily.
What I like about the company
Not a lot to like. Senior Managers are compensated very well.

Everything I’ve already mentioned.
