All supervisors receive the same instructions, so everyone is on the same page.
Support from management
Shimano is proud of the reputation it has earned in the marketplace, and does everything possible to maintain that high image.
Warehouse leadership stays on top of where things get slowed down, and address the slowdown as soon as possible.
Freedom to work independently
Everyone is expected to perform up to company standards, which doesn't leave much room for working independently in the warehouse.
Lots of emails to track, but other departments don't necessarily understand how the warehouse processes orders, so they frequently have orders that need special attention.
Everyone is encouraged to work without concern for gender.
Attitude towards older colleagues
I am an older person, and my acquired knowledge was appreciated and utilized when appropriate.
There isn't a lot of movement within the warehouse. Once you're settled, you will probably be there for awhile because very few people leave willingly.
Overall compensation for your work
Shimano is not the highest paying employer, but they are competitive within the industry.
Office / Work Environment
It's a warehouse, not a luxury resort.
Shimano cares about the environment and expects all employees to behave accordingly.
Sometimes, the orders that are received late in the shift require overtime to get them out the same day. There is lots of overtime required.
They are the leader in their industry. That has been earned because they make excellent products, and stand behind them.
No one has a job for life, except an owner. The company has been around for 97 years. As long as you are performing, and hitting goals, you will have a job with Shimano.
It's a warehouse. Persons with disabilities are given opportunities to work, if they can perform their duties up to company standards. Accessibility is not an issue.
Very few, if any, safety problems. All are expected and encouraged to work safely.
There is always something new to learn in order to meet customer expectations. The customer is King!
Inclusive / Diverse
It's a melting pot!
Suggestions for improvement
- There isn't much to improve.
What I like about the company
If you have an idea about a way to improve something, and you have gained enough knowledge about why things are done the way they are, any operational improvement ideas are given serious thought.
What I dislike about the company
Sometime there is more last-minute overtime than expected.
