I like that they find new ways to try and sell their products...however flip-flopping ideas from month to month in displaying the products is counter-productive. Also their legal stance on several issues is hard to agree with.
Support from management
The stores managers are professional and respectful majority of the time, but also lack when it is time to get rid of employees that aren't doing their tasks in a timely and professional manner.
my local store was good with this mostly. however management has given several chances on what should have been instant dismissal from the job.
Freedom to work independently
a lot of our side tasks are mostly meant for one person at a time as well as one-on-one with the customers.
Could be better and be in more detail.
our management is predominately women in the roles. however there have been men in the same roles.
Attitude towards older colleagues
yes, everyone is treated fairly...but not equally, it is tailored to each employees skills and abilities.
to be promoted within the company seems somewhat easy, however if you don't have a vehicle...you can't become a manager/ key holder for the simple fact of transporting money to the bank at the end of each day or money runs during the day as needed.
Overall compensation for your work
no...the commission to pay rate is very hard to get. There are many weeks of the year that it is nearly impossible for the majority of employees to hit commission week in and week out.
Office / Work Environment
where the store seems cool to our customers, it does tend to get a bit hot in the store year round for the majority of the employees. We could have better/ more control over the central air/ cooling system. Otherwise lighting and everything else is accessible.
no recycling within the store. cardboard boxes that we receive our shipments in and as well as empty shoe boxes are thrown away rather than to give them to people who could use them for moving and other such things.
depending on time of year....busy seasons is an overload of hours (most of the time) to the slow parts of the year where I am scrapping to get hours at work.
While it can be fun to work for the company...I believe there are ways to improve greatly in this area.
where hours fluctuate from week to week and month to month...it is hard at times to take care of all financial responsibilities.
our bathrooms are big enough to allow wheel chairs access, and the aisles are just big enough for such things.
While it is hard to do some tasks...the tasks get done. where boxes are not just a universal size it is hard to "flush" the boxes on our shelves.
Inclusive / Diverse
mostly due it the company way or you don't work. Even if there is a better way/ a safer way to do things.
Suggestions for improvement
- Allow stores to get involved at a community level instead of having it have to go through corporate office every time. Implement recycling programs to reduce trash and waste. Implement a way for employees (associates and managers/ key holders ) to get raises (at least yearly if not quarterly). Better discounts for employees.
What I like about the company
The atmosphere and helping customers
What I dislike about the company
The irrational positions/ stance that the take on certain items.
