Support from management
Even though I respected and liked my boss I was misinformed about things and was not supported.
I really enjoyed the team I worked with and for the most part every person was very helpful and supportive. There are always instances of people just out for themselves and would manipulate you satisfy their own agenda. Unfortunately the company appreciated this type of person and not the hard working family person.
At the leading level there really isn't any way to go up the ladder unless you are willing to relocate to where the corporate office is.
Overall compensation for your work
The salary offered was decent but if you are new to the industry you are on the low end of the spectrum. You have to ask for pay increases and fight for them if they are not offered when they should be. This was surprising to me due to the fact that the company is so large and successful.
This was the deciding factor for leaving this position. Unfortunately a decision was made without my consent that I would need to Lease 2 properties knowing my difficult family situation and availability to commute. The added location required me to commute on specific days of the week which initially worked with my family schedule. The company decided they would like me to commute to this specific place on different days of the week which would require a much longer commute and also take quite a bit of time away from my family. When I asked to not switch days or to return to just the single property I was told that if I don't do it they would find someone who would. This did not make me feel like a valuable employee.
With properties being bought and sold at any time your job is not necessarily secured. Not to mention the fact if you don't go along with their restructure they will find someone who will.
Suggestions for improvement
- The company needs to take into consideration the lives of employees and make them feel valued. Employees who meet or exceed million and multimillion dollar budgets should be valued.
What I like about the company
The paid maternity leave was fantastic and the other benefits are great.
What I dislike about the company
The fact you are not valued and the company is not sensitive to family situations.
