Company Culture

They care about money more than their employees

Support from management

No support whatsoever

Teamwork

management is not eager to help

Internal Communication

Very poor communication on managements end

Overall compensation for your work

Very poor pay

Office / Work Environment

Unsafe and untrustworthy environment

Work-Life Balance

Poor scheduling

Job Security

They provide no job security. Hence the high turnover

Suggestions for improvement

  • Learn the difference between occurrences of laziness, negligence, irresponsibility, verses potentially life-threatening/physically damaging/debilitating situations and care about your employees wellbeing. help them find options in such emergency situations, (FMLA would have been nice to know about), verses jumping to impersonally firing them over the phone after putting them on non-paid leave for a week.

What I like about the company

Flight benefits

What I dislike about the company

Skywest doesn’t care about their employees. Their turnover rate is unbelievably high for a reason. Had to call out of work to go to the ER for having stroke symptoms, I was physically incapacitated. Paralyzed on my right side, blind and deaf on right side and speech impaired from it. They fired me for this call out. Provided doctors notes and everything. They said it was no exception. So just a heads up, if you ever suffer from paralysis, stroke, heart attack, or anything life threatening or physically damaging, they don’t consider that excusable and will fire you. Welcome to the skywest “family”.

Teamwork

Team meetings are held

Freedom to work independently

Many employees work remotely

Internal Communication

Annual Reviews help employees work through their challenges and also highlights areas where the employee succeeds

Career Development

Many of the employees have been with the company for 25-35 years. Management personnel tend to stay and so do emplyees. There isn't much movement within the company

Overall compensation for your work

Not in comparison to other airlines

Work-Life Balance

Many managers work with employees through emergencies, family challenges, etc.

Suggestions for improvement

  • The culture is very fair and just, policies are well documented, and the environment is wonderful.

What I like about the company

I enjoy the people I work with. The company also has quarterly bonuses and stock option programs.

What I dislike about the company

Compensation needs to be comparable to other airline industries and cost of living expenses should also be considered.

Company Culture

I'm my job seniority is a factor to get things your way. Many senior people mistreat people with less seniority

Support from management

I'm my job seniority is a factor to get things your way. Many senior people mistreat people with less seniority

Teamwork

In training the company addresses how to deal with difficult employees or situations involving differences of personalities

Freedom to work independently

Yes at least in my position

Internal Communication

In training they would say the company is doing great, in a recent letter the CEO said the company was barely making a profit. So they weren't being sincere right away

Gender Equality

Yes they do. Sometimes they hire women to do jobs that should be done by man (physically demanding, that lift weights)

Attitude towards older colleagues

They like to hire very old people. Which is good for the old people but they can't work as hard as the young ones. For my específic job they should put an age limit for hiring.

Career Development

The company is constantly changing so new positions are created or implemented

Overall compensation for your work

It's equal to other regional airlines

Office / Work Environment

Our aircrafts can be hot. We still use the old ones with old ac system. Flying on summer is awful in some aircrafts.

Environmental Friendliness

We always have the recicle cans available in the company facilities

Work-Life Balance

You can bid of your work days

Company Image

I like the position but I'm not very crazy about my employer. Skywest tells us to take the water that the mainline provides but it doesn't buy the crewmember water to take. If we go to a dry place like Aspen we will count in the hotel water to drink. Other airlines buy at least water to the crewmembers. Meanwhile Delta gives their employees a fully equipped gym in the airport facilities.

Job Security

At least in this company after u pass probation you are set for retirement. The company is being able to maintain its mainline partners for years.

Handicapped Accessibility

Many airports don't have a jetbridge so sometimes the customers with desabiliteis have to go up by stairs

Workplace Safety

Our company is all about safety

Challenging Work

The Only thing that can be challenging are mean people that boss you around without being your boss. People are the only challenging part of my job

Inclusive / Diverse

The company asks us to not talk about certain topics at work. It's not a free speech environment

Suggestions for improvement

  • Crew lounges in clean areas of the airport. Give the crew water to take on layovers. Put us on hotels that offer free breakfast and better amenities.

What I like about the company

Easy to get a job here and to maintain it. It's being stable in the market and able to keep the clients satisfied. It pays ok. It gives us flexibility and opportunities to advance within the company. It's getting better year by year.

What I dislike about the company

Putting crew lounges close to where garbage is stored is very unpleasant. The crew lounge is usually messy and has dirty appliances, also it has papers everywhere in the walls which makes it crowded and ugly. The crew lounges are tiny and with limited couches. I wish the company would give crew waters to be taken on layovers. The decoration and celebrations is super cheap. Other airlines have artwork in the walls and many pleasing rest areas for crew members.
