Support from management
Had a good trainer then was switch to our supervisor/trainer and everything I did was wrong... My progress reviews were good the first 6 months & then my last 3 months they got worse; eventually I was released and unemployed.
Had some people who were awesome to get advice from and help and others who expected you to just know the job.
Freedom to work independently
Had to kiss certain peoples' butts...not for me!
Attitude towards older colleagues
Employees who have been there a while tended to be more appreciated & supported. Unfortunately that was not the case for me although some new blood dos get better treatment than myself.
Once you are a dispatcher there you will remain unless you become an officer.
Overall compensation for your work
Compensation could be better. Good benefits.
Office / Work Environment
Couped up in a room with people who know no other words except vulgar ones.
Forget it! Work on holidays and every other weekend with 12 hour shifts, alternating every 2 weeks from day shift then to night...yikes!
Image does not reflect reality at all!
Stable if you are an extraordinarily awesome at multi tasking when it comes to listening. You have to be sure you can hear a few different radio conversstions at once.
Very challenging! Be prepared to give up time with friends and family because you'll either be sleeping or working.
Inclusive / Diverse
