they'll say things to make you feel better but never any action to improve the actual situation
Support from management
they do the bare minimum to address the issue/problem or ignore it and hope it goes away
teamwork in the same department is great, but across department....more like compete with each other
Freedom to work independently
if you follow what they say and want you to do, it's most likely ok, but if you have new ideas and try to work on it, you'll most likely to be shut down
they'll give you "the info you need to know" only when you ask
they don't have women in advisory board, nor in upper management team; so where's the equality?
Attitude towards older colleagues
there's definitely no difference towards age when it comes to proficiency and experience
in short, there's none
Overall compensation for your work
it's starting salary is 50% of the industry and it hasn't had any adjustment (event merit) for 2 years...and all the benefits like fitness classes, onsite fruit program had been cut ever since I joined the company
Office / Work Environment
the building is old, so there's lots of electric and A/C problems; they also shut down the A/C system afterhours regardless many R&D ppl need to work extended hours or coming in the weekends
sustainability should be the core value of this company; however, I only see the bare minimum required by the law gets done when it comes to recycle and improving "green" impact
R&D ppl usually have their own schedules and can come and go any time as long as we get jobs done
we like our company and what it stands for, but no the way they treat us
they'll get rid of the lower level workers to make sure their upper management team gets paid on time
I think biotech industry in general is not a disable-person friendly environment
we have inspections and drills all the time to comply with the law
this company is trying to do things that others can't/haven't done, so the innovation and challenging duties are trememdous
Inclusive / Diverse
they not necessarily promote diversity but also won't against it as long as it doesn't affect their bottom line
Suggestions for improvement
- Stop hiring so-called-experts from outside the company to address the concerns; listen to your employees and promote someone from within to do the "actual work". Stop telling us that you don't know why we're leaving when you're not paying us the fair market rate.
What I like about the company
I like to work with my team members. They're top thinkers/scientists and the challenges we face are exciting. My immediate team members are also very supportive, and everyone gets along very well.
What I dislike about the company
They do the bare minimum to address the problems and give us the minimum but demand us to put the maximum effort. Their default solution for any concern is hiring more upper managements from outside to "solve the problem".
