The current employees of the company are a poor representation of the company's mission statement. Employees and supervisors are out for their own self-interests and show little regard for the clients we were servicing.
Support from management
Supervisor did not handle conflict well, would avoid conflict and not address it appropriately. Supervisor would not follow through with tasks. Upper management poorly mismanages as well.
A few colleagues worked well as a team because we realized that in our line of work, it was better to be a united front. There were a few colleagues that only sought their own interests and did not work well with the team.
Freedom to work independently
I was able to manage my own caseload and organize how I would spend my time. My supervisor limited and micromanaged, which is why I only gave autonomy 3 stars.
There was never clear communication between my direct supervisor and I the duration of my employment with the company.
Attitude towards older colleagues
If an employee was older, they were given more privileges than other employees.
There was no room to grow within the company, which was one of the reasons I sought other employment.
Overall compensation for your work
The wages and salaries were far less than what was demanded from the job. The health insurance was unaffordable. Benefits were given, but they were not great.
Office / Work Environment
I worked on site at a residential group home. The group home was not tidy and my supervisor would try to make the staff clean up while the clients were more than capable of cleaning up after themselves if they were given the proper supervision and direction from my supervisor. During the summer, the group home had bed bugs. A pipe in the basement burst and raw sewage flooded the basement. Staff reported this immediately, however, maintenance delayed their response. They did not believe us at first and raw sewage was in the basement two weeks before something was done about it.
The work-life balance was difficult to achieve. Working hours varied from a Sunday-Thursday or Tuesday-Saturday schedule. 8 hours of PTO were earned each month, which is insufficient for taking appropriate vacation time especially when working in a high-stress environment.
The image reflects reality, but that it is a negative image.
There were no ramps or elevators at the group home for employees that might be disabled.
I do not believe safety was considered for employees because I was working in an all male group home (9-10 guys) and I am a female. I was often left alone to work my shift in the house.
The work was overall not challenging. Gaining rapport with clients was not difficult if they were treated with respect.

Suggestions for improvement
- There needs to be a change in the upper management. The company is poorly mismanaged, which trickles down into the most basic roles. This causes high turnover rates for employees and does not give the clients the best care possible. The ethics and morality of upper management are questionable and they prefer to sweep things under the rug unless it benefits them.
