Honestly terrible expectations and definitely not the place to work if you suffer major depression.
It started out okay but over time I felt less and less like a valued member of a team
Changes to software and things of that nature weren't communicated to staff despite my asking for us to do so and it led to more confusion and tickets for me and in turn frustration in the long run
I was somehow caught between the Help Desk Technician role and Systems Admin (Engineer in their ranking system) for 2 and a half years despite my predecessor making the same leap in 9 months, despite me having quantifiable proof that I had been performing better compared to when he was in the same position. Being stymied for so long after already finding out I went underpaid for so long is a big part of what drove my performance into the gutter
Overall compensation for your work
I went underpaid compared to new hires for 2 years in the call center and they basically told me to my face I have no legal recourse for this.
Used to be fantastic. After being promoted into IT and then working there for a few years it kind of felt like everyone started to hate me because I couldn't possibly fix their problems as fast as they wanted.
If your performance slips whether due to mental illness or anything, if you don't make it up immediately you might as well leave because there was no understanding.
Challenging not for what you're doing most of the time, but more often because you'll have someone asking you for results more often than you'll actually get time to work on what they're asking for.
Suggestions for improvement
- Please please please take people's mental illnesses more seriously and for the love of God adjust your user expectations
What I like about the company
In the beginning, 8 years ago, it was a friendly place to be where I felt like I was always learning something new.
What I dislike about the company
Now 8 years later, it really started to feel like I couldn't do anything right. I didn't feel included even within my own department hardly ever. Couldn't do anything to get the promotion I had been working toward for years just because there was "no need" for the company to have that position again despite two people basically moving up and us losing an employee. Instead of paying me slightly more so I could help with some of the off hours work and extra workload that basically covered their ears and said I can't hear you and kept me locked in an underpaid position compared to anything around until I was let go, all the while telling me things that simply aren't all that true from what I'm finding about other companies that kept me from being serious about a jobhunt. It was like a very unhealthy relationship.
