There is no fairness and no room for improvement. Managers are not trained or qualified therefore they often use negative reinforcement tactics. Insults, threats, etc. There is not room to move up often, and there is no room for women to move up ever.
Support from management
There is no leadership in southern. The company focuses on making the number, as long as this is done they have no regard for how their managers behave. They do not invest time training their managers, therefore most are not qualified. 90% of their staff does not have a degree because they came from the bar industry. Do you want to work for your bartender?
Even though they discourage it, there is in house competition. You will represent specific brands but have to compete with the person next to you selling a different brand that is more affordable. It becomes a very hostile work environment.
Freedom to work independently
As an on premise sales rep you delegate and coordinate your own hours. A retail rep will have a set route.
Women do not have the same advantage. They do not move to upper management or retail spirit sales. The younger you are the more frowned upon you will be.
Managers are not trained. Employees sales trainings continue to say the same thing repetitively. There is rarely room for promotion.
Overall compensation for your work
The managers are overpaid and the employees are underpaid. The way expense reports are done is ancient and they are not timely in returning them.
Bonuses are not even close to what they should be for the work load and are paid 2-3 months late. Benefits are offered. Base salaries paid in a timely manner.
You will work all the time. You will be overly stressed. This is not a job you can leave at the door and go home. You do not get vacation until after a year and then it's only 1 week. Most sales reps manage their own schedule, but the less you work, the bigger the hole you're digging.
You are made to feel your job is always at risk. You are expendable and always replaceable. However, from my understanding, they rarely fire people.
Yes. Great HR department.
Yes. However, having to go certain places in the service industry can be unsafe and they do not consider this or represent you well.
Inclusive / Diverse
Diversity is not supported. This is a white make dominated office. Women are limited to 1 in upper management. They all work in HR or entry level jobs with no room for improvement.
Suggestions for improvement
- Improve and update policies to comply to modern technology. Train managers in proper tactics and solutions management. Encourage diversity in the work place. Promote from within and more often. Begin giving bi annual raises
