- Southwest Key Programs, Inc.12.Nov 2015
There is an employee of the month award, but it was often the same people that received it. Hard work was recognized on a monthly basis, also usually the same people.
Support from management
Management was fair and involved.
The name of the game was "Teamwork" and we all worked toward the same outcome.
Freedom to work independently
The workload was heavy and shift leaders tried very hard to share the reponsibility.
There used to be meetings at each shift change over, but that went by the wayside. Management had a meeting once a week, and an annual 8 hour brainstorming session. A great deal of important information was not imparted to most employees. Basically on a need to know basis.
The career opportunities are there for everyone.
Attitude towards older colleagues
There appeared to be no discrimination againt senior workers.
Advancement was earned by working hard. Nepotism was obvious at times, but HR took that in hand and it improved.
Overall compensation for your work
Pay was okay, but the benefits were excellent, with a very generous 401K program.
Office / Work Environment
The shifts are 8 hours long, at times they would change to 12 hour shifts for staff and 10 hour shifts for Management, this proved to be very stressful, especially for the staff working night shift. There is 40 hours of Training that has to be completed over and above the regular working hours.
All is acceptable for this category.
The work-life balance was not good. Vacation days are earned but often times you are not able to take them when you want. Sick days are also earned, and they are fair with this.
For the most part I believe the image of this company is fine. Upper Management are very cordial and fair.
Job is not very stable, due to financial problems caused by lack of clients.
This was excellent.
Constant training which included Medical training provided everyone with the knowledge and ability to ensure there were very few accidents.
It is a very challenging job whatever position you might hold, and despite the training, often thestaff would feel that they were over their heads when there were mental or physical crises with the clients.
Inclusive / Diverse
They are excellent at this.
Suggestions for improvement
- I think a great many employees were very sared of being laid off at times of " tightening of the belt", I believe the Company should have been more open with ther employees, keeping them informed with everything that was happening with the Company.
What I like about the company
They were always available to talk to, although did not always " have your back", on the whole it was a very friendly environment to work in, and Upper Management always were available, with an excellent " open door" policy.
What I dislike about the company
Too many hours spent with Training, this does not include all the computer tests you have to take on your own time. Meetings were always mandatory and often on your days off. One was not compensated for this, you would come in late or leave early to cover this.
