Terrible caste system, little appreciation shown by managers.
Support from management
Essentially don't believe in management: Do a poor job of setting goals, do no real employee development.
Teamwork at the operational level is good, management is disfunctional.
Very little feedback on results, very poor dissemination of direction.
Women, particularly the most talented women, tend to leave.
Attitude towards older colleagues
Too many senior people are allowed to retire-in-place.
Essentially no career development for technical staff.
Overall compensation for your work
Great benefits, though recently there have been cuts. Promotions are rare, raises are very small.
Office / Work Environment
A privileged few have good space, the rest are increasingly jammed into less space with increasingly antiquated tools.
Our image is better than we deserve.
Inclusive / Diverse
At least management is aware how poorly women and minorities are being treated. Some action would be more helpful.
Suggestions for improvement
- Managers must be made accountable for schedules and results. Regular efforts at performance management and employee development should be required manager behaviors.
What I like about the company
The work serves a noble purpose, and is intellectually stimulating.
What I dislike about the company
There are no clear plans for how to address key needs. Schedules are not credible. Housing is a mess. The building is just dirty and old.
