Very click-y. If you're not in the "group" you're ignored.
Support from management
No communication between managers and staff. Policy changes are given to a select few. The rest are ridiculed for not knowing about the changes.
The "group" work well together. Any other that ask for help are made to felt that they are imposing.
Freedom to work independently
Clinic management constantly watch certain staff on video to justify disciplinary write-ups.
The male veterinarians were not treated well and frequent disrespect by staff was never addressed.
Attitude towards older colleagues
Very few older workers are hired. The ones that are, are treated poorly until they resign.
There are no criteria for advancement. The "buddy" system is they to get promoted.
Overall compensation for your work
Compensation is the lowest in the area. Raises are laughable- $0.05-$0.15/hr IF AT ALL.
The only recycling is cardboard.
Very glad I left.
Entrance, bathrooms and exam rooms were sufficient for people in wheelchairs to enter.
I don't believe they are OSHA compliant. Many of the cleaning chemicals are not in the MSDA binder and most staff didn't know what the binder was or how to use it.
I feel I educated many of our clients which gave their pets a better quality of life.
Inclusive / Diverse
No one's opinion is wanted by upper management. They believe they know all there is to know even though they've never worked with animals.
Suggestions for improvement
- Hire certified veterinary nurses, treat them with respect, pay them a decent wage. Your patients deserve better care.
What I like about the company
I loved working with animals and their owners. Educating the public to provide their pets with a healthier life was great. Seeing sick/injured animals get well was the best!
What I dislike about the company
Lower and upper managers created a very toxic environment for staff. They were terrified of any staff with more education or experience than they had.
