Suggestions for improvement
- Pay the bedside nursing staff more and not increase the upper management pay. Have upper management see all that the bedside nursing staff has to deal with personally. Compensation for having higher education degrees. Separate the patient satisfaction scores for things that are not in nursing staff control such as food quality.
What I like about the company
I have worked at Spectrum Health for over 17 years. I have been a medical office secretary, a nursing assistant, and a bedside nurse. There are numerous opportunities to move within the organization. My unit has great teamwork and makes me want to come to work. We have fun in a very stressful critical care setting. There is a collaborative team approach to patient care that is very rewarding.
What I dislike about the company
The upper management doesn’t seem to understand the bedside nursing concerns. They are trying to improve communication with more frequent surveys of staff. The pay for critical care nurses is not enough. Higher education degrees are not compensated for.
