This is the most toxic company culture I have ever experienced. Every interaction is assumed to have a winner and a loser, and the only way to achieve results is by applying unnecessary pressure at every opportunity
Support from management
They couldn't care less about their associates, and if you happen to be in a position where you hold crucial procedural information, well your days are numbered because Speed does not value competent employees, and chooses unorganized chaos, the blind leading the blind is the norm. But luckily there are enough employees for you to basically do whatever you want for about 3 weeks until they let you go.
There is no team, there is no unity. Teams are often pinned against each other, inbound vs outbound, weekday vs weekend.
Freedom to work independently
Well the good thing here is if you are applying for an entry level position you can pretty much do whatever you want because there is 0 accountability, zlich, nada, NONE
The only communication you will hear is unnecessary "Mayday" calls from the overtly religious and extremely incompetent Manager, who against all odds has yet to find herself in the middle of a Religious lawsuit
Guys pick, girls pack
Attitude towards older colleagues
This always struck me as odd, they will have 3-4 young able bodied young men doing very non-demanding physical labor, and then have one man 60+ responsible for loading an entire trailer.
There are 0 raises... EVER. It is not uncommon for someone who has been working there to only be making 75 cents more than they were 5 years ago, and they often will make the same or even less than new hires
Overall compensation for your work
No appreciation for anything you do, no matter what you do it is never enough. The pay is not competitive whatsoever
Office / Work Environment
No one cares about you, you have plans this weekend? That stinks cause you are working, it's cool though they will let you know by 4:55 on Friday
I don't believe simply leaving all the trash in the bathroom build up for weeks at a time is the same thing as recycling...
This is actually doable, as long as you don't have a life! 14+ hour days, for 3-4 week bursts during periods of time you would most like to spend with your family. They also will only work you 20 hours other weeks. They do NOT VALUE YOUR TIME AT ALL! They will spring mandatory overtime at the drop of a hat, impose false call off points. I cannot stress how horrible this company is at this!
They certainly are not called "Job Well Done" Commerce
You are just a number, you will be laid off eventually. Everyone is pushed to the point until they completely submit or are terminated
I watched them take a wheelchair from a woman with a boot on.
This place is just waiting for a workman's comp claim, there are so many out of compliance areas, they are actually trained to drive forklifts fork firsts at all times which goes against OHSHA guidelines
The work here is very monotonous
Inclusive / Diverse
The company values hiring people from many different ethnicity's, however they only really cater to Caucasians, and often are much harder on their Muslim workforce.
Suggestions for improvement
What I like about the company
People only work there because they have ran out of options and need a paycheck at the expense of their personal well-being
What I dislike about the company
They do not care about their employees at all. One manager as a joke started to describe prison style jumpsuits which the management started to run with until the issue of who will pay for them, arose. Security is an irrelevant former TSA employee who will interpret a sneeze as a bomb threat. This is ran like a prison, by morons. There are so many backwards processes as SOP have been lost through terminations, do yourself a favor and stay as far away from this place as possible
