Support from management
Some get it, some don't
There is a big lack of communication at each site.
Attitude towards older colleagues
They do hire older workers but the pay is very low.
There are very few professional advancements here.
Overall compensation for your work
Very low pay. Increase in pay is every 5 years. Their benefits are good but health care deductibles are Huge.
Most employees have a real passion for the services they provide but with the low wages, you get what you pay for.
They eliminate positions putting people out of work with minimal notice. They're very secretive about it.
Suggestions for improvement
- Raise your pay scale to a competitive rate and get rid of the 5 year step up. Limit personal usage of cell phones and internet on the job. Discipline those who break these rules. If you're going to eliminate positions or close schools due to lack of funds, you should inform employees and directors when their program is in the red to give them a chance to turn it around. Care more about the children you are providing a service to as much as you care about your bottom line and high tech gadgets.
What I like about the company
Flexible with family situations. Liked the people I worked with and the service we provided. Very self rewarding to know you made a difference in young lives.
What I dislike about the company
Low wages. Lack of communications and support. Women are not treated as well as men according the pay scale and job duties. Lack of discipline for employees who are on their cell phones and company internet instead of doing their job. They even have a saying "It's the Spurwink way" la-ti-da
