Workplace Diversity and Inclusion
Diversity and Inclusion is a business strategy that better positions us to provide remarkable service to our customers; attract, engage and retain employees; and grow State Farm™.
State Farm strives to be a company known for its commitment to diversity and inclusion in all aspects of our business. This commitment is demonstrated within the workplace, where all associates are treated with respect and dignity; across the marketplace
by how we interact with our diverse customers and suppliers
; and in the community
through philanthropy and community relationships.
All State Farm associates have a responsibility to exemplify inclusive behavior in every relationship with each other, in the community, and with the diverse customers and suppliers with whom we do business.
At State Farm, we embrace diversity and inclusion because it's simply the right thing to do.
Diversity and Inclusion Guide Our Workplace Culture
Our workplace is shaped by how State Farm associates interact with each other and with our customers. This creates the Good Neighbor culture by which we have defined our organization. We are people who make it our business to be like a good neighbor; who bring diverse talents and experiences to our work of serving the State Farm customer; who respect and value the unique dimension each associate adds to the organization. These are the words we live by as State Farm associates.
Our Diversity and Inclusion Vision is to be a workplace known for inclusiveness, opportunity, and personal development where everyone can thrive and do their best work.
Diversity is the collective strength of experiences, skills, talents, perspectives, and cultures that each agent and employee brings to State Farm. It's how we create a dynamic business environment to serve our customers.
Inclusion is about respecting and valuing the unique dimension each agent and employee adds to the organization. We recognize that employees are at their productive and creative best when they work in an environment in which they are valued, respected and included in shaping the products and services we offer.
Employee Resource Groups
We further leverage the talents of our employees through Employee Resources Groups (ERGs). An Employee Resource Group is a group of employees who have voluntarily formed around a demographic segment and have a company approved mission and purpose. ERGs serve as valuable resources for employee growth and development, recruitment, retention and business ideas and solutions that help us better serve our customers. Many ERGs also offer opportunities to get involved with and give back to local communities.
Any State Farm employee who supports the group's business purpose is welcome to join and does not need to be a member of the demographic segment the group is formed around in order to participate. We currently recognize Employee Resource Groups formed around these segments:
- African American/Black
- Lesbian/Gay/Bisexual/Transgender/Queer & Questioning
- People with Disabilities
- Young Business Professionals/Mid-to-late Career Professionals
