What employees say

Employees like

Well taken care of. Pay is great. Lots of benefits offered. Supervisor, regional manager & director are very supportive, offer encouragement and treat myself & coworkers fairly and with respect. Workplace coworkers are like family.
Supportive team, great leadership. This is the best position I have been in my entire career. I wish other areas of the hospital could be like my department
They are all wonderful. The supervisor treats us as equals and won't ask us to do anything she wouldn't do
There are none. Management dirty. Hopefully new governor sends them away.
Co workers are like family. We are always willing to help each other out.

Employees don't like

We are not allowed to receive any perks from employer as we work for the state and profits won't be spent on employees. No free/subsidized coffee, Cafeteria, etc
Working in government creates a lot of red tape, and I believe upper management could eliminate some of that be delegating decision making to subordinates.
See first answer. We deal with the most dangerous and violent people in the state, yet get treated worse than they do, on a daily basis.
The building is very old, but budget is too low to fix it up. And there is a lot of harmful gossip and drama with employees
They executive team is not concerned with the dangerous conditions we face

Suggestions for improvement

I would make a company-sponsored ecopass (for public transport) permanently free for all employees, or else relocate to areas that allow for all employees to park for free. Some areas of state employment have free parking, in other areas parking is very limited and expensive.
The biggest issue is the pay scale. We simply aren't paid enough. However, given the constraints, this will not be addressed. So, steps should be taken to reward employees in other ways (time off, for instance).
Treat everyone with respect and dignity. Be open to change and know that some things are not timeless and need to adapt to survive.
Workplace culture could benefit by leading change agents promoting a positive culture during the change
Improve the pay. It's hard for those making less than 20000 a year to keep either head above water.
