State of Ohio experience report

  • Employee

I work for a government agency. Workload is high and there is no flexibility in work hours or location.

Suggestions for improvement

  • Allow for flexibility in work hours and location for personal or productivity reasons. Occasional options to work from home. Trust that we as professionals can do our jobs effectively with flexibility and evidenced by metrics rather than extreme oversight over work schedules and unnecessary time driving.

What I like about the company

I make a fair wage and have good benefits.

What I dislike about the company

There is little respect for individuals who have been with the agency a long time. We can only have flexibility in work hours and location for business reasons. We often spend more time driving so we can work from out “headquarters” even if it is at the cost of time and money. The work culture is very 1950’s.
