Suggestions for improvement
- Open up new positions where needed and make people want to stay at Stock. Currently, there's not anything keeping people wanting to continue working here. There is no incentive to do more and go the extra mile (other than being a good employee and wanting to do a good job). Let all the sales employees make commission on the business that they help support and maintain. "Reward" the good employees with more than the "cost of living" raise. And if you're not going to do this, at least remember a person who feels appreciated will always do more than he/she is expected.
What I like about the company
Job security is fairly steady with a steady paycheck. Hours are 7am-4pm for most employees (off an hour early than most people). Availability to work from home on occasion is nice (Sick, inclement weather). Most of the employees are nice people that genuinely want to do a good job. The co-workers are one of the best things about Stock.
What I dislike about the company
No room for career growth outside of a few positions at the store level. Outdated processes and computer system. No commission in a sales support role despite a "teamwork" environment. The salesman makes 100% of the commission. Lack of substantial annual raises even when the company is doing well or your performance is excellent. The money stays at the managerial level with quarterly/annual bonuses, etc. Health benefits have gotten progressively worse each year. Management does a poor job of communicating process changes with each other in their different aspects of the business, and their staff, making it difficult to manage the day to day business efficiently without confusion.
