You will hear a lot of flowery talk about how great the company is, then reality sets in.
Support from management
Goals are not realistic. They don't take different demographics into consideration. They just lump all demographics into one. Employees are NOT part of the decision making process. They are only interested in the bottom line. Upper Management also allows for Branch Mangers to belittle and make long term employees feel inferior without any recourse. HR backs the managers up 100%. The employees have no way to defend themselves.
Co-workers know how to work well together. Management does not.
Freedom to work independently
You are micro-managed on everything.
There is plenty of communication. In fact, certain managers don't know when to be quiet.
Attitude towards older colleagues
People who get paid well and have more vacation time start to get treated poorly to push them out of the company so they can hire people for less. Especially in the branches.
You are only supported in your career development if you are part of the "it" crowd. If you are not part of that crowd, you are over looked for internal job opportunities. Even if you have the experience over someone else.
If your children are older, you are taken advantage of to work more to cover for the employees who have children that are younger.
Certain employees are told that we have a business to run and you need to be at work no matter what, while others are told it is no big deal if they need to be off, they need to be off.
Branch managers make you feel job security is never going to happen.
There is never any training on workplace safety. Staffing no longer allows for the safety of robbery prevention either.
The work is challenging and you can be proud of it. The part that will get you is constantly being told that you are not good at your job because you didn't do enough sales!
Inclusive / Diverse
Your opinions only matter if they line up with the bottom line.
Suggestions for improvement
- Don't allow branch managers to belittle employees. Stop focusing so much on sales and numbers . Make it about the actual member again.
What I like about the company
The benefits are top of the line.
What I dislike about the company
Summit is no longer about the member. It is all sales driven.
Also, they allow Branch Mangers to belittle their employees and HR backs them up 100%. Employees have no way to defend themselves.
