no trust from company... seems like Symantec is downsizing in USA and finding cheapest agents to support products... no employee retention nor attempts to keep well trained employees
Support from Management
seems like supervisors/managers are not getting support and it shows with employees
most employees work well together... perhaps the most satisfying part of the Symantec experience
Level of Autonomy
too rigid on cases/calls coming in... not flexible on what agent is strong at... if only was to allow agents to take what strong at or trade cases in an adult like manner
too much hidden from top part of company on company planning... seems to be an atmosphere of shareholder governed discisions
I saw no difference between a man or woman doing a support or management position
Attitude towards older colleagues
Symantec seemed like they ignored the fact that some agents were seasoned/senior... however, it seems like certain times the seasoned/senior salaries were in way of cost cutting times
there seems to be no room for growth in salary nor career in the plans of Symantec and its agents... shares and cost cutting seem to be in front
Overall Compensation for your work
salary is low due to Symantec choosing an area to have low salaries... now certain regions (India) are being considered instead due to even lower salary potential... Salary is paid on time... benefits seem ok compared to market... (in past benefits were superior)
Wage increases are extremely low or rarer in recent times...
another rare piece of Symantec that is very good... building in Springfield, OR is newer and well maintained
Symantec seems to be "green" and environmental aware
a lot of peer pressure or 'clicks'/social classes... seems like everybody is looking out for own self and making it hard environment to work in
Employees tend to be quiet talking about Symantec in fear of being a bad mark made on them (silently placed and not shared)
Since June of 2015, Symantec has made over 3 major layoffs in Springfield, OR... as of late, no back-fills nor new hires being made
The site has good amount of accessibility for disabled employees
Symantec is mostly a cubicle support organization in Springfield, OR and has very good safety
the cases (when allowed to work it to completion) are fun to solve...
Symantec attempts to show a diverse opinion... I still feel that 'clicks'/social classes quench an opinion that is different to end goal
Suggestions for improvement
- where making money is great, don't just cut costs on or with the employees... be aware that shareholders are not the end all for a successful company
- be aware that laying 100s of agents off can really affect an area... I have been trying to get a job in my market for over 10 months due to a flooded market of 'talent'
What I like about the company
there are many people still within Symantec that are fun to be with and solve complex issues... that culture makes the job fun...
What I dislike about the company
the company started out with an employee centered culture... 10-15 years later, it is now shareholder centered and seems like decisions are made to please them
