The culture in the technology area is one of fear - everyone is afraid of repercussions so no one speaks out about the problems. It's all about CYA - the leadership team makes bad decisions but doesn't admit it even when they know they did something wrong. They have no qualms about treating individuals badly when they want to make themselves look good.

The leadership team talks a good story about transparency, and telling everyone to speak out, but there are definitely consequences when it is something they don't want to hear.
