Support from management
I had some great coworkers that were happy to answer questions, give direction with a thorough explanation, and even ask if I needed help when they had some spare time; while others would “throw you under the bus” at their first opportunity.
Freedom to work independently
Still somewhat of a “good ol boys” mentality.
While furthering education via degree or certifications are appreciated, even pushed, there is not a lot cross-training or potential for promotion.
Overall compensation for your work
Pay is rather low compared to competition
Office / Work Environment
I worked in a cubicle while employed at Targa, I’ve heard they have since moved locations and have gone to the currently popular “open concept” work stations.
There is no work/life balance. This question is almost comical.
No such thing
Suggestions for improvement
- Offer flex time and/or the opportunity to telecommute; even if only 1-2 days per week. Show appreciation and empower your employees. Re-evaluate the amount of PTO offered. Stand by your mission statement and core values.
What I like about the company
Parking or bus pass paid by company, a fairly casual dress code, importance of continued education
What I dislike about the company
No work/life balance, lack of employee appreciation and perks, poor behavior and work habits of some seem to be overlooked causing discord
