It was better before our new chair took over. Now moral is really low and everyone is tense and angry.
Support from management
It's ok. It was better before the new chair.
Freedom to work independently
This is a big problem with our new chair. She is micromanaging really dumb things.
This aspect is good.
Attitude towards older colleagues
I think this is ok.
As adjunct, you never know.
Overall compensation for your work
The situation is bigger than just Tarleton.
Office / Work Environment
It's ok. They got rid of all the skylights and windows in a remodel and that sucks.
They try, but everyone is overworked.
I was more so before the new chair.
Not at all. Major source of stress.
Teaching is always challenging.
Inclusive / Diverse
They try, but the community is rough on minorities.
Suggestions for improvement
- Replace our chair. Windows in our building and being able to hire some of the adjuncts as full time would help.
What I like about the company
The university tries to keep the employees happy. Before the new chair, it was great and super positive.
What I dislike about the company
Why is our chair allowed to police the faculty like they are children and tell the staff to be watch dogs and catch us if we use tape on the wall? In what universe does that work? Why doesn't she spend time writing grants to get us more money, or work to make things better for us? She is ruining what used to be a great gig.
