The building was like a garage with the owner in an office and a bulpen for the technichians. There were also these weird cars that were outrageously fitted with company advertisements. Staff was given a choice to use their own vehicles......
Support from management
Routinely staff receives profanity laced emails from management including threats for those with low hours billable to customer. Senoir technicians work four hour workday, do not respond to emails when asked for direction on a project, and applies passive-aggressive approach when managing.
Company is driven by billable hours so teamwork is not always a priority. Overall the lower tier technicians are always available for questions and coverage if necessary.
Freedom to work independently
Senior techs have scheduled visits, junior techs compete for available hours amongst themselves.......so thats a NO.
Communication was ok but mostly profanity laced emails about hours etc....
Every 2-4 months procedures would change so staff would learn a procedure and change....this was a 10-12 person company so it was expected.
There were no women on staff besides the administrative assistant.
Attitude towards older colleagues
We were staffed on certain projects with a few senior workers.
This is stepping stone company for workers who can handle the challenges while increasing your skill set over time.
Overall compensation for your work
There is lots of turnover which contributes to moore hirings. Salaries are what the market bears so it's my understanding that mid-level techs are probably underpaid based on market salary, years with the company, and year experience overall.
Office / Work Environment
You're in a garage but we had cubes to degree but it was open-concept.
Equipment was routinely thrown in parking lot dumpsters and not properly destroyed or disposed of.
Given the culture with the emails and passive-agressive management, work life balance was not a priority of management.
Website is a joke. All staff knows it.
No job is ever guaranteed in MA.
This where the company excelled. I was able to gain valuable real world IT skills from all pieces of businesses we supported in a very short amount of time.
Inclusive / Diverse
Diversity was neither promoted or discouraged during my time.
Suggestions for improvement
- Reasses industry standards for staffing, compensation, and management.
What I like about the company
Skill set improvement in short space of time. You also were exposed to multiple industries and were involved from helpdesk to purchasing to projects etc...
What I dislike about the company
Bullying from management and a hostile work environment.
