Suggestions for improvement
- I would appreciate a more hands-on approach to diversity and inclusion. I would also like to see management's actions line up more closely with their rhetoric regarding work-life balance. Finally, the specifics of my particular job require some convoluted scheduling that is difficult to plan around - I would like to see a more stable schedule.
What I like about the company
The company culture strongly enforces ideas about work performance - new employees who make frequent mistakes are corrected and sometimes let go, as are employees who are observed to "wiggle out" of tasks. Hand in hand with this is that managers are quick to offer support when asked, and quick to offer praise, encouragement, and other positive reinforcement when appropriate. I have received two merit-based raises in the last year without asking for them, and I'm frequently recognized for my work, which I appreciate greatly.
What I dislike about the company
I think the company could do a better job of taking initiative with diversity, especially gender diversity. I also find that, management claims to value work-life balance, they frequently show preferential treatment to employees who show a willingness to work unreasonably long hours, in the form of special recognition and promotions.
