TVA was a great place to work
the culture of serving the Tennessee Valley is still supported by the workers, but does not seem to translate to management.
Support from management
Leadership has changed and does not seem concerned with the individual contributor. From the CEO the head of information security, leadership seems to be focused on their own success not on the company or the individual.
good among teams, not so from management, empire building and preservation of executive bonuses seems to matter here.
Freedom to work independently
TVA has moved to not listening to workers in the last 2 to 3 years.
communications is okay,
A lot of good old boy mentality.
Attitude towards older colleagues
Older contributors are forced out. our area's mean age dropped by 20 years in 2016
advancement is through moving positions instead of promotion.
Overall compensation for your work
TVA has paid well but incentive bonuses have been cut for individual contributors in 2016
Office / Work Environment
remote work is highly discouraged.
High resistance to work from home.
varies depending on the audience. TVA has done a lot for the Tennessee Valley but right of way cutting and some of the lake management is controversial
TVA is cutting jobs
TVA is under regulatory pressure to meet the disabilities act
Safety is highly supported.
doing much more with less is the theme.
Inclusive / Diverse
Our group in information security has all people of color eliminated as well as older experienced individuals.
