My managers have no problem engaging in arguments with staff in meetings. Opposing views and suggestions are met with passive-aggressive comments, a defensive front, and lots and lots of excuses. The so-called "safe" room meetings are anything but safe when leaders take criticism personally, and are threatened by questioning their methods.
Some areas have great teamwork, but most areas do not give a sense of cohesiveness. Very segmented and individual-centric culture.
The boss assigns tasks, then does them before the assigned staff can start on them.
Plenty of times, two or more people begin work on the same task due to poor communication. Employees are responsible for interpreting messages to discern what was meant, rather than what was said.
No clinical ladder program, no patient satisfaction incentives, no incentives for volunteering for extra responsibilities. Very few options for staff development.
Terrible insurance coverages, although the administration will tell you our insurance is great.
Definite sense of peer pressure in terms of working hours. Lots of "hall monitors" who make comments about the comings and goings of staff.
Opposing ideas are struck down quickly, and without much discussion. My boss refuses to see another's point of view, and will continue arguing the point until the opposition gives up.
